CREAMY CHEESE AND SPAM PENNE! DON’T KNOCK IT TILL YOU TRY IT!

INGREDIENTS
1TBSP BUTTER
1 1/12 TBSP OLIVE OIL
1 CAN OF SPAM, WASHED AND SLICED INTO 6 1CM SLICES
1 CUP HEAVY CREAM
2 1/2 CUPS GRATED CHEDDAR
1 1/2 CUPS DRY PENNE
PINCH OF RED PEPPER FLAKES (OPTIONAL)

DIRECTIONS

  1. IN A LARGE PAN, HEAT OLIVE OIL ON MEDIUM HEAT. IN A MEDIUM POT, BOIL WATER AND COOK THE PENNE TO DESIRED TENDERNESS AND DRAIN. **COOK THE PASTA DURING THE OTHER PROCESSES.
  2. IN A SMALL POT, MELT BUTTER ON LOW-MEDIUM HEAT. WHEN BUTTER IS MELTED, ADD CREAM AND STIR. CONTINUE HEATING FOR 2 MINUTES WHILE STIRRING.
  3. ADD SPAM SLICES TO THE PAN AND COOK FOR 4-5 MINUTES UNTIL SKIN IS CRISPY AND GOLDEN BROWN. FLIP SLICES AND COOK ANOTHER 4-5 MINUTES. WHEN DONE, REMOVE PAN FROM HEAT AND CUT SPAM SLICES INTO BITE SIZED PIECES.
  4. MEANWHILE, ADD HALF OF THE GRATED CHEDDAR TO THE SMALL PUT WITH THE CREAM AND BUTTER AND STIR UNTIL MELTED. THEN ADD LAST HALF OF THE GRATED CHEDDAR, STIR UNTIL MELTED. ADD OPTIONAL RED PEPPER FLAKES.
  5. ADD SPAM PIECES TO THE CHEESE SAUCE AND STIR. ADD CHEESE AND SPAM SAUCE TO COOKED PASTA AND MIX WELL. SERVE.
