So easy to make for something I thought was for the fine dining crowd!
PANNA COTTA
INGREDIENTS
-2 Tbsp cold water.
-1 Tbsp unflavored gelatin powder.
-2 cups heavy cream.
-1 cup half and half.
-1/3 cup white sugar.
-1 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract.
DIRECTIONS
- In a very small pot or sauce pan on low heat, gently mix and stir cold water and gelatin powder until combined into a thick clear liquid. Remove from heat.
- In a medium pot or sauce pan, bring heavy cream, half and half and sugar to a boil, stirring constantly to avoid scorching. Once boiling, remove from heat.
- Add vanilla extract and gelatin mixture to the cream mixture. Stir and combine.
- Pour mixture into small custard cups or ramekins. Cool in refrigerator for at least 6 hours or overnight (I did overnight to be safe).
- To remove from bowls, place in a large container of hot water for a few seconds to loosen. Invert each small bowl/ramekin on to a plate, releasing the Panna Cotta awesomeness! Add optional topping like I did!
NOTE: I have made this a few more times since and tried different flavor enhancements like orange extract and mint extract! Mint Panna Cotta with chocolate sauce is AWESOME! Try it!
